Miro
Connected Home Device, 2018
Overview
A smart mirror that makes people's daily lives productive and delightful
My process began with the daily observation of my roommate’s habit of looking in the mirror in the morning. I conducted 5 interviews and crowdsourcing research through Quora with the purpose of gaining better understanding of people’s daily routines and their needs. I asked them how many times they look at themselves in the mirror at home and usage habits.

Interviews
Here's what my roommates have to say about their experience in front of the mirror.

Behavior Problem Statement
From my observations, people tend to check themselves and simultaneously multitask.
People look in the mirror at least once a day. People spend only a few minutes in front of the mirror before they go out and go to bed. Even though it is a very short moment, it is a crucial one for people.
Finding opportunities
From primary research, I heard insightful stories and found opportunities from problems that people had. I developed three "how might we" statements.
How might a mirror help people get relevant information?
How might a mirror interact with a user and create delightful moments?
How might a mirror make people’s lives more productive everyday?
How might we design an early morning ritual experience that enables people to be more productive?

Prototyping

A smart mirror "miro" recognized Soojin by the facial recognition system.
After greeting Soojin, It showed five important pieces of information that she cares about everyday;
time, weather, schedule, traffic, and to-do list.

Soojin realized that she used all of her lotion today.
She swiped left to see the menu and clicked the shopping icon to order what she needs.

Soojin wanted to know how to curl her hair.
She asked "miro" to show her a tutorial from Youtube.

"miro" double-checked the item with Soojin before proceeding with the order.

"miro" detected that she stood up and said good bye.
